A Newel post is an upright post rising at the foot of a stairway, at its landings, or its top.

These posts usually serve as anchors for handrails. Often the stringboards, which cover and connect the ends of the steps, are framed into the newels.

Spindles

Spindles (also known as balusters) are the vertical posts that connect the base rail and handrail on a staircase. Spindles are available in metal, or wood. Glass panels are so available.

Handrails

A handrail is a rail that is designed to be grasped by the hand so as to provide safety or support. In Britain, handrails are referred to as banisters. Handrails are usually used to provide support for body or to hold clothings in a bathroom or similar areas.

Kawartha Special

Kawartha Special is 3" W x 2 1/2" H, and has a casual feel and look.

Traditional is 2 3/4" W x 1 5/8"H handrail that carries a sleek look

  • Also available in 3" x 1 5/8" 

  • Species available: Red Oak, Maple, Ash, Hickory, White Oak, Pine & Poplar

  • Radius's available 1/4" as well as 1/8"

  • 1/8" carries a sharper-edged feel and look

JayBec Rail

JayBec comes in two different sizes;

3"W x 2"H, as well as 2 3/4"W x 1 3/4" H, and carries a modern look.​

  • Has a minimum of a 1/4" radius on the 
    edges as to meet Ontario Code.

  • Milled and made in-house from raw lumber

  • Species available: Red Oak, Maple, Ash, Hickory, White Oak, Pine & Poplar

You can also get a plain square cap for a more modern look.​
